Welcome to the "Lirnik i Tłum" band site
On 7 November 2009, during the opening of the new "Alternatywa Cafe" on ul. Złota 11, a concert launched the band "Lirnik i Tłum" ("The Bard and the Crowd"). The band was formed by two friends: Renata Birska and Jerzy Dołżyk.
We owe our meeting to Jan Siwmir, at whose gatherings we took our first steps together. From the start we were drawn to poetry, which we try to interpret and express as beautifully as we can with guitar accompaniment. As our collaboration picked up pace, we decided to seal it and carry on as a band.
On 1 July 2012, the line-up grew with a wonderful cellist, Patrycja Skoruch, gifted with a beautiful voice as well.
The name "Lirnik i Tłum" is also the title of one of Jacek Kaczmarski's songs. We chose it for a few reasons: we love singing Kaczmarski's songs together, and the figure of the Lirnik (bard) himself — who, playing his songs, could stir all kinds of feelings and visions of the world in his listeners — speaks to us. We hope that, unlike the crowd Kaczmarski describes, you'll find our work worth a closer look, and interesting.
