Our Class – IV

draft MT — needs author review

If Jacek were here with us, he could still say something more,
After all, he had so many friends, scattered across the world.
Wojtek, Kaśka, Magda, Marek, Filip, Irka, Adam, Zdzichu,
That’s just a small handful, in such a rich life of his.

And what of those in Australia, where he spent half his life,
Where a Russian on a wild beach kept watch over a sand tower?
What of Patrycja, his daughter, for whom he gathered seashells,
Does he meet his brother there, how is he doing?

So many stories he’s written down, so much history, so many events,
So many songs he’s sung for us, so many dreams he’s built for us
How many hearts have woken, how many are still torn?
How many more will be moved, how many could still fit in a song?

If Jacek were here with us, he could still say something more,
Something from the story of his life — now he sings to the Saints in heaven.
All the Saints want to come to earth, to find their own class,
The class is, and always will be, wherever our hearts still are.
